Validation

Adding/viewing validation in a column: Clicking View within the Validation column for a single row will display any validation rules set for the column selected.

Add a Validation Rule

  1. Click Add New Rule to display the Point/Attribute Validation panel. Expand the Select a Validation Rule drop down list. This list displays all available validation rules that can be applied to a point/attribute. Select a rule.
    • Each rule has a description of the data that should be entered into a cell on the template grid and what validation will be performed on the column selected.
  2. Some rules require additional information. Select the rule Min Value.
    • A value or values must be entered in Enter a value box where required.
    • The matrix below outlines the column types each of the rules can be used. Multiple rules can be applied to a single column (e.g., a min value and a max value). The user is responsible for setting rules that can be validated sensibly.
  3. Click Add Rule to Column to add the rule to the list of validation for the column.
    • If there are rules with additional values, the value in the Value column can be quickly edited by double clicking on the Value cell and typing in a new value.

Delete a Validation Rule

  1. Click a row with the rule you want to remove so that it is highlighted and click Remove Selected Rule.
  2. Multiple selections can be made by pressing the shift or ctrl key on your keyboard and clicking each row you would like to remove and clicking Remove Selected Rule.

Changes to the validation of a selected column are automatically stored to the column.

All validation rules set for a column can be removed.
